Reception Tips
If you live on the fringe of our listening area or if you would just like a stronger signal, the following tips will help.
If you listen with a portable or battery operated radio and have difficulty picking up the station, try placing your radio near a window. If you still have problems, place the radio near a window facing west.
The best reception is achieved by using an external or outside antenna. If your system has FM antenna terminals located on the rear of the receiver, you are missing a tremendous improvement in reception if you aren't using them. There are several different external antennas available. Most outside TV antennas are also FM receiver antennas and can be used by simply purchasing a TV splitter at your local electronics or TV dealer. Using the antenna will make a difference, but turning it toward Mt. Pleasant (our transmitter site) will make a much greater difference.
If you want even stronger reception, a TV/FM signal booster can be purchased. It will increase the gain of all received signals and can be installed with basic tools. This signal booster is used in conjunction with an outside antenna.
In your car, always be sure your local/distant switch is in the distance mode when reception is poor. If your antenna length is adjustable, the proper length of the antenna should be 30.5 inches. Also, there is an FM antenna booster available for your car. |
